Just Checkin' In

Hey all. I sure miss being able to post. It's been much more difficult now that my daughter is doing her studies at home and needing the computer to do her writing assignments and more. Not only that, she is taking a class at the community college and yours truly has to tag along and wait for her while she is in class. I hope I don't sound as though I'm complaining. In fact, I'm very pleased that we made the decision for her to do her studies this way. It has proved to be advantageous for her in that she can work at her own pace, and get more one-on-one time with her instructor. Also, her grades are better than ever. However,I do miss not being able to check on all my blogging buddies as much as I would like.

So how are my locks? They are doing just fine. I washed my babies today and let them dry freestyle. When I'm home or not doing anything special, this is the style of choice. When I'm working I'll pin set my locks the night before. In the morning I remove the pins and finger my locks into a style. I find that pin setting is the most comfortable for sleeping. Also, I like that there is no tension on my locks and the curls I get from pin setting look quite nice.

I wish I had some updated pictures for you to see, but I don't. hopefully next time. Hope everyone has a blessed day. I'll try to post again real soon with some updated pictures.

Peace

Getting bad grades can be a real low blow to the old ego. Glad to hear that her grades are good and that life as a teen is not taking over.
How is it really to be a mother to a teen these days? I have a long way to go, so knowlege is power.

Muslimahlocs: No,I don't homeschool. If I could, I would. She is involved in an independent study program. She does most of the work on her own, but does meet with a few instructors weekly for prep, and test taking. I was skeptical at first, but it has proven to be good thing for her, and has even strengthened our relationship.

Sez: Being a mother of a teen can be challenging, and believe me, my daughter and I have had ours. I have had to stand firm and stand alone often. No one said parenting was easy!! However, I can say that the past year+ has been the best ever. She's matured a lot and that has helped much. She knows her mom loves her and will always be there for her.

Thank you for the update! Continue to stay encouraged in your parenting. Oneday, if she has not done so already, she may do like I did. When I was a freshman in college I called my Mama and I told her thank you for raising me the way you did, for helping me set boundaries I did not even know how to establish. As a freshman, I saw so many of my girlfriends getting taken advantage of because they had a "taste" of freedom. But because my Mama laid the foundation, I have been able to go really far in life, without getting "too" mixed up with life.
